AN ACT
Providing for suicide prevention continuing education.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Short title.
This act shall be known and may be cited as the Matt Adler
Suicide Prevention Continuing Education Act.
Section 2. Definitions.
The following words and phrases when used in this act shall
have the meanings given to them in this section unless the
context clearly indicates otherwise:
"Licensing board." The State Board of Psychology and the
State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists
and Professional Counselors.
Section 3. Continuing education requirement.
A licensing board shall provide that a licensee complete at

least one hour of continuing education in the assessment,
treatment and management of suicide risks as a portion of the
total continuing education required for license renewal.
Section 4. Regulations.
A licensing board under section 3 shall promulgate
regulations necessary to effectuate this act no later than 18
months from the effective date of this act.
Section 5. Effective date.
This act shall take effect immediately.
