Subject: Women's Lung Cancer Action Week and Turquoise Takeover in Pennsylvania
 
I hope you will join me in co-sponsoring this resolution to designate May 6-12, 2024 as Women's Lung Cancer Action Week and Turquoise Takeover in Pennsylvania.

Lung cancer continues to be the number one killer of cancer of  women in both the United States and in Pennsylvania.  In fact, every 2 minutes, a woman in Pennsylvania is diagnosed with the disease. In 2024, there are expected to be 118,270 new cases and 59,280 deaths in women nationwide.  

Luckily, we are seeing vast improvement in early detection and treatment.  It is proven that lung cancer screening saves women's lives, and advocacy and increased awareness can result in more high risk women getting screened and seeking treatment.  

I hope you will join me in cosponsoring this important resolution to bring awareness to this important issue for women's health  and wear turquoise in recognition of Women Lung Health.
