MEMORANDUM

Posted: December 5, 2023 01:50 PM
From: Representative Dallas Kephart
To: All House members
Subject: Staff Sergeant Peter P Abromovich Memorial Bridge

In the near future, I will be introducing legislation designating a bridge carrying U.S. Route 219 in Susquehanna Township, Cambria County as Staff Sergeant Peter P Abromovich Memorial Bridge.

Peter Paul Abromovich was born on November 19, 1917, in Arcadia, Pennsylvania. Peter enlisted in WWII in 1941 and served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force until 1945. Peter flew in over 50 bombing missions in Papua New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Central Europe, and Southern France, where he served as a tail gunner and nose gunner on a B24 Liberator. Peter thereafter lived in Cambria County, where he was married to the former Beatrice Stewart and had 7 children and 5 grandchildren. Peter passed away on July 25, 1997, surrounded by family and friends.

For his valiant service, Staff Sergeant Abromovich was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Distinguished Unite Badge, the American Service Medal, and the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal.

I hope you will sponsor this legislation and join me in honoring this fallen hero.
