A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the week of April 16 through 22, 2023, as "National
Volunteer Week" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, "National Volunteer Week" is an annual observance
and an opportunity to honor the countless individuals who
selflessly invest in the lives of others; and
WHEREAS, It is fitting to recognize the many individuals who
lend their time, skill and effort to help others in need and the
community organizations that make their service possible; and
WHEREAS, Through volunteer work, ordinary citizens of all
ages make extraordinary contributions to individuals, families,
neighborhoods, communities and our Commonwealth; and
WHEREAS, Volunteerism strengthens this Commonwealth's
communities, improves its vital social concerns and enhances the
overall quality of life for all its residents, including
children, seniors, persons with disabilities and individuals who
are impoverished, homeless, physically or mentally ill or
otherwise in need of assistance; and
WHEREAS, Volunteering can provide life-changing experiences

and bring about positive change such as increased self-
confidence, self-satisfaction, physical well-being and
opportunities to make friends and to gain new skills; and
WHEREAS, Volunteers affect positive change through large and
small volunteer actions and have the power to make a difference;
and
WHEREAS, Volunteers are a vital component of this
Commonwealth's future and its residents' combined efforts ensure
a true commitment of service to others; and
WHEREAS, This Commonwealth's volunteer force is a great
treasure and during this week, we pay tribute to residents who
devote their talent and resources and demonstrate love,
compassion and respect for humankind through their service; and
WHEREAS, The practice of regularly volunteering time to
community service projects should be promoted throughout this
Commonwealth, as it enriches the lives of both those who receive
services and those who volunteer; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
week of April 16 through 22, 2023, as "National Volunteer Week"
in Pennsylvania.
